Rugby for Boys and Girls

Register Here.

Fast and Fun, 7 a side rugby introduces and fosters skills and the spirit of our great game.

TRY! was founded by CoachO and Coach Bill Gregg in 2000 as a Friday night play and learn program. Over the course of 8 weeks, we saw about 40 boys and girls from 7-14 get a reversible T-Shirt and a junior sized rugby ball and learn to play touch rugby. The program has grown every year since, creating multiple age groups, spawning more than a half dozen new rugby clubs and safely fostering tremendous improvement in the quality of play. In 2010, several hundred boys and girls will learn and compete in the TRY! league, now a fully enfranchised part of Colorado Youth Rugby. CYR is a state based organization sanctioned by USA Rugby, responsible for managing and promoting all youth and high school rugby in Colorado.

Contact Rugby now open to 9U Boys and HS Girls!

We answered the demands for "REAL" tackle rugby beginning with middle school boys in 2002. Today we teach and sponsor contact rugby in 4 Boys divisions and the equivalent of 3 Girls divisions. Don't call your Title IX lawyer yet, TRY directors call for input from coaches at the beginning of each season and expand programs just as soon as our growth and subsequent demand from players and parents will support the expansion. Before too long, we expect to see both contact and non-contact play offered in most age groups.

Eligibility: Cherry Creek Rugby Club actively serves and recruits from all of the neighborhoods and schools that feed Cherry Creek High School. Players from other areas, not served by a TRY club, are welcome to play with us.

Boys must be 15 or under on May 1.

Girls must be high school Juniors or younger. Age group will be determined by age on May1.

Contact players may not "play up". Playing down is only allowed under extraordinary circumstances with Board approval on a case by case basis.

In recent years Creek Rugby has entered teams predominantly in the 15U and 13U Boys contact divisions. Beginning this year and going forward, we are actively seeking to form teams in as many divisions as we can field. We have a team of experienced coaches and the aid of former and current high school players ready to train and support new teams. A team requires 8-16 kids the same age who want to play and learn and 2 adults willing to help organize and coach.

We need to hear from you today. Teams are forming now and the deadline to have at least 5 registered players and 1 parent is fast approaching. Send this page link to anyone who might have or know of interested players.

Register your interest here.
